Quick Escape to North Mayo

We got to go away for another short trip. We are taking advantage of the slightly better weather
We went to Ballina checking out Beleek forest to see if we could stay there for the night. With just enough room under the barrier, we managed to squeeze into the car park. Unfortunately, overnight stays were not allowed, so that plan had to be revised. Beleek is a beautiful forest with the river cutting in. We went for a lovely walk, and visited the castle for a coffee in the cafe. Looking at a map we decided to continue along the northern coast of Mayo to find a suitable place to stay. We stumbled across a very nice pier and a pub just across the road and was debating weather to stay the night there, but we thought "better save the money" and find a beach. We ended up at the loveliest little sandy spot with sand dunes and a little bay with a cave.
After exploring the area and a chill in the sand dunes we set up camp. Despite it being very windy, we enjoyed sitting and watching the ocean. Trying to spot whales or dolphins, but they were a no show. It was too windy to have a fire so we settled on bread and cheese for dinner.
Up early next morning to enjoy a nice sunrise. The wind had died down and it was very pleasant. We went for a long walk along the beach and found a lake hidden around a corner. We had company of a little dog that had attached itself to us the previous day. He was a very sweet old boy, that we assumed had been abandoned there. We considered adopting him as no one seemed to own him. He was eager for company and seemed a little lost. After a chat with the dog warden we were advised to bring him in to her. We got him in the car and drove away. He was happily standing between us, watching out the front window. We hadn't gone far until he puked. When we stopped to clean it up he escaped. Bolted out of the back. A nice lady in a house nearby, lent us a bucket of water and a brush. After a quick clean we managed to entice him into the car again. Learned from experience, this time on the floor of the front seat. He was calm and even fell asleep on the way, while being stroked. Two minutes from the dog warden, he puked again. This time though we continued and in the end we surrendered him to the dog warden that would try and find his owner. If not, he would be rehomed.
